General Flower Care Instructions
Take good care of your beautiful ASDA flowers and you’ll be surprised how long they’ll last. By following these simple hints and tips you’ll get even more enjoyment from your bouquet.
- Please cut the cable ties underneath the bouquet next to the knot. Make sure you just use the top of the secateurs to prevent any damage on the flower stems.
- Give them a drink as soon as you can. Flowers can experience stress during transit but will perk up after a few hours in fresh water
- Take off all leaves below the water line. Leaving them on could release harmful bacteria into the water when they rot
- Cut 3cm off all stem ends at a slant with a sharp knife or scissors and place immediately in water. This way, they’ll absorb water more effectively and stay bright and perky for longer
- Keep your vases very clean and use fresh, lukewarm water. Don’t use metal containers if you can help it, they neutralise the effects of flower food
- Make sure you add all the flower food provided; it’ll make such a difference
- You’ll want to show your flowers off so make sure you put them in a cool, light location away from draughts, direct sunlight, radiators and fresh fruit
- Remember to top up the vase with water, you’ll be amazed by how much they drink
- Make sure you take off any dead or wilting flower heads as soon as you see them
- You can refresh your flowers and give them a boost after three of four days, Simply re-cut the stems and replace in fresh lukewarm water.
If your flowers arrive by post they’ve probably been without water for a few days. As a result they might appear a little soft, but don’t worry. Just put them in water to refresh the stems and buds. They’ll look good as new in not time at all.

General House Plant Care Instructions
If you look after them properly, house plants can last for years and years and when they flower, they’re beautiful. Here are some easy-to-follow hints and tips to keep your plant happy.
- The most important thing to remember is that your pot plant should be kept away from frost. They also like a constant and moderate temperature, ideally between 13°C and 21°C
- Most plants need 12-16 hours of natural or strong artificial light per day. Foliage plants generally like bright but indirect light. Flowering plants need lots of direct sunlight
- You’ll need to water your plant regularly but don’t over do it, the compost should be moist but not soggy. Try watered directly onto the top of the pot or by dipping the pot into water
- Humidity is important and needs to be just right. If your house is centrally heated, try spraying the leaves regularly to stop them from drying out
- Plants like fresh air so try putting them somewhere with a mild circulation, but avoid a direct draft. Never put them on top of radiators or electrical equipment such as TV’s
- You’ll need to keep your plant well fed so give your plant food regularly. The best type is liquid fertilizer. Try adding it when watering
- Dust can block the leaf pores and cause problems, so make sure you regularly clean the foliage with a damp sponge and clean tepid water. Alternatively, use a leaf polish
- Cut off your plant’s dead-heads flowering plants and they’ll flower for a longer period.
